This Is What A five Year Old Sponsored Surfer Looks Like

Doesn’t life look fun as a care-free grom in Waikiki?

The waters warm, the swells supremely gentle, and party waves seem as acceptable as they are on the Severn Bore. Here’s a little kid who’s joined the scene really young; five-year-old Tyler Purcell, already with a sticker on the nose. Perhaps it’s a little young to be getting tied up in the murky world of pro surfing, with all its brand building, filmer bartering and social media strategising, but Tyler certainly doesn’t exactly look like he’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders.

So what does the deal look like? “Brian and the Moku shop have been instrumental in Tyler’s surfing” says Tyler’s Dad of the relationship, “they give him a place to call home right in Waikiki, with a bunch of people and kids that care about him, they help support him with entry fees into surf competitions and  with surfboards and apparel.” Sounds pretty good to us!
