Albee Layer & Friends In The Funniest Surf Edit You’ll See This Month

Here’s a brand new edit from Take Shelter Productions, featuring a Southern Hemi summer mission to NZ with Albee Layer, Hank Gaskell and Kain Daly.

Before we hit play, we’d better warn you there’s some narration involved. But don’t click away! It’s not the overly earnest American drawl you’ve become so accustomed too, nor is some down tempo poetry or a nugget of Eastern mysticism, neatly packaged into an Alan Watts soundbite.

Nope. It’s some of the most welcome and entertaining voice over we’ve heard in a surf clip for a long time and the surfing and film making upon which it lays are also a feast.

Here’s what Dan Norkunas from Take Shelter said of the production:

Brrr… is short story of a group of friends who grew up in Hawaii. During the long flat summer the crew decided to take a trip south. While most surfer’s are heading to Indo, Fiji or Tahiti during this time of year, our crew decided to go further. Far on New Zealand’s southern island the gang runs into many things working against them. From angry locals, iceberg lakes, and no idea where to go, they do there best to capture the raw beauty of the place whilst keeping the laughs going the whole time.”
