WATCH: Is Angus Scotney Britain’s Best Sponsored Not Sponsored Surfer In Britain?

Here’s Angus Scotney, one of Britain’s best sponsored, but not pro, rippers with a winter edit worth a watch.

The accolade of best non-pro is incredibly hotly contested, with the field so crowded in fact, we recently dedicated an entire full length feature to those who make it up and the array of ways they pass their time when not in the sea.

Scotney works all summer, then travels all winter, with his latest edit featuring  a three month stint in Ireland, a few session in Kernow, a fist full of crazy waves in Scotland and some fun Portuguese drainers.

“I was in full budget mode living off strictly pastal de natas and Ucal chocolate milk,” he explains of his time in Portugal “not the healthiest time of my life but we were scoring waves and that’s all that mattered. My love for pastal de natas died during a dawn surf check that ended in Lidl bakery and after spending 6 euro on 15 custard gems, because the boys insisted it was impossible, I attempted to eat them. A slight dizziness and dry heaving in the car park but apart from that … challenge complete.”

If no one snaps up the offer of sponsoring Angus, perhaps a career as a competitive eater awaits.
