Bude’s Ellie Turner and North Devon’s Peony Knight cemented some big results in their respective categories over the weekend.

Ellie, who’s been on an absolute tear already this year, finished runner up at the Espinho Pro Junior, putting her in second place overall on the Euro Junior rankings heading into the final event of the tour, which will take place in the Basque country next month. If she can finish strong there and hold onto her current position she’ll be off to the world juniors at the end of the year. Whatever happens, at just 15, Ellie’s achievements this year have been laudable and with three years still to go in the juniors we’ve no doubt this is just the start.

On the other side of the world 20 year old Peony Knight from Devon made the semi-finals at the Jordy Smith Cape Town Pro, seeing her add another 5th place finish to her impressive 2017 results roster.
Rather than working on her marketability and doing photoshoots, Peony has spent the last few years travelling solo the world competing, training and pushing her surfing at every opportunity. Her approach seems to have served her well, as her first full year on the QS has seen her already stack up several impressive results, putting her firmly into the top 100 and taking the accolade of highest ranking achieved by a Brit since Russ Winter in the early 2000’s.
Earlier this month Emily Currie also garnered a fifth in the Women’s Longboard Tour in Spain, putting her up to 2nd in the Euro rankings.
