Brad Domke Recounts The Biggest Wave Ever Ridden On A Skimboard

Do you remember, dear reader, back in 2014 when skimboarding’s most famous proponent, Brad Domke, rode the biggest wave ever tackled on a finless fibre glass disk at Mexican behemoth Puerto Escondido?

If you do you probably wondered fiercely at the time what on earth must be going through this lunatic’s head, carrying on like that, and if you missed it the first time round you now have the privilege of seeing the footage for the first time with Domke’s insightful running commentary.

Because, 4 years on, the man himself has released a little clip documenting the events that lead up to him taking off on what is still by far the biggest wave ever ridden on a skimboard.

“After I rode that wave out, I just felt like something deep down in my soul was accomplished, but yet, just the beginning at the same time.” Describes Domke in the video, elaborating afterwards that “this day and that wave will always stand out on the top of the list for me. It was such a legendary day of riding waves.”

“My good friends Gabriel Villaran and Shane Dorian got their winning waves at the XXL awards from that session, my friends Brent Symes and Rusty Long got a couple sick ones early, and the wipeouts were about as gnarly as they get, with clips from Andres Flores, and the late legend Ricardo Dos Santos (may he rest in peace) taking some legendary beatings that were up for Wipeout Of The Year awards that year. All in all it was one for the books and I’m stoked to give you guys some insight into the day and what we do.”
