Spring started with a bag this week across Western Europe and while Blighty enjoyed sunny skies, fun-sized waves and gentle offshores, down in Portugal the swell made landfall with a little more grunt. Here we find Nic Von Rupp at home in Ericeira, scoring a few bombs at Coxos, before hot-footing a few hundred meters south to tackle Cave, one of Europe’s most hectic slabs.
Out there he’s joined by friends Miguel Blanco, Kiron Jabour and OG Cave Local Antonio Silva- a man who’s been dedicated to the wave for the last decade, putting himself in hospital on two separate occasions, including once with a broken back. He certainly doesn’t look like he’s taking it easy out there though…
