Day 2 saw more solid, but tricky conditions at the BUCS Surf Championships.
The day kicked off with the girls, which saw impressive performances across the board, particularly from Gabbie Rowe from FXU, who notched heat total of the round.
The spectators were once again out in force and although many seemed a little fragile, there were still plenty of takers for the days beach activities which included free yoga sessions and beach volleyball. Cornwall High Performance, too, were on the beach providing free massages and comfort to those who had tweaked a muscle either in their heat, or throwing shapes the night before.
Round 2 of the boys got underway as the tide pushed in, making for a paddle out that challenged even the most competent of competitors. Ryhs Poulton, who once again put on a dominant performance, said of the conditions:
“It was hard work and I only had two waves all heat, with an 8 minute paddle out in between, but its a sick event and I’m enjoying it. “
In round 3 Chris Schnitzer, from FXU, cemented himself as the man to beat going into the final rounds tomorrow, scoring the highest heat score of the competition so far, with a 9 and an 8.6.
