One of the most influential skateboarders of all-time, and Dogtown and Z-Boys legend, Tony Alva is set for the inaugural UK Surf & Skate Expo, 2025.
Alva will be hosting ‘An Evening With Alva‘, on the expo’s The Line-Up stage by Yeti. This will be an up close and personal talk with Tony, who will dip into the mythos of skateboarding, Dogtown’s history, a bit about himself, and everything in between.
“Looking forward to returning to the UK,” said Alva. “Hoping you can all come out and have a good time with us, I’m really excited about it.”

This isn’t Tony’s first time over the pond. Tony reached English shores back when he was 19-years-old and was one of the first American skateboarders to visit – and the first to skate London’s Southbank. Tony’s also a surfer and musician, forming the band G.F.P. In 2007, with members of Bad Religion and Suicidal Tendencies. In 2013, Alva played in LA-based band, His Eyes Have Fangs.
“It’s amazing Tony is joining us here for the UK Surf & Skate Expo,” said expo organiser Chris Thomson. “Heritage is so important to surf and skate culture, and to have a legend like Tony in Newquay for the weekend, may help inspire a next generation of surfers, and reignite the fire for us old school crew.”

Tony’s evening talk will take place on Saturday September 13th in the Expo Hall from 7pm, and he will be joined by long-time friend, Ozzie Ausband, author of ‘Back in the Day: The Rise of Skateboarding’. You can book your tickets by going here.
The UK Surf & Skate Expo will take place on September 12th – 14th in Newquay, Cornwall and will feature speakers from across the surf and skate world, including Tony Alva, Stefani Nurding, Andrew Cotton, Hugo Tagholm, Andrew Seidel (founder of Shredenhams) and many more – plus a Junior Surf Competition and GB Skatboarding Nationals.
Oh and we’ll also also revealing this year’s Surfer Awards as part of the event — so stay tuned for that on the Friday night.
