Downhill Tramline Skating Is Crazy! A brand new extreme sport is taking cobbled cities by storm

Many European cities are full of two things; tramlines and frustrated landlocked surfers, and now Portuguese engineer Ricardo Marquez has developed a way for the latter to take advantage of the former.

The idea came when Ricardo would gaze down the tram-lined, cobblestoned streets in his local city, and imagine how good they would be to skate, were the surface not so unfriendly to a conventional skateboard.

“I’ve always dreamed of riding down this street,” he says wistfully in this brand new clip. “It’s always been on my mind, because without these stones, it would be the best down hill in the world.”

Then Ricardo had an idea, and soon set about developing a new type of skate based craft, with two larger wheels at the back and one at the front which slid into the tram tracks, allowing him to bomb the hills with relative ease. The result was the birth of a new and exhilarating extreme sport, which according to the clip, has spread as far as The US and Brazil:
