WATCH: An Indo Winter Highlight Reel With Ellie Turner

It’s long been understood that in order to make a dent in the international competitive scene, where the bar is always moving up, you’ve got to spend your winter somewhere other than Britain.

We get our fair share of waves, of course, but not the sort that offer the kind of consistently perfect sections that really allow surfers to refine their skills. That’s one of the many reasons why rising star Ellie Turner instead opted to head to Indo for the winter, ditch the heavy rubber, and work on her lip hits in waves with a bit more punch and predictability. So far this year her training season looks be paying dividends, landing a string of solid results, including a 4th in the Caparica QS, through the European leg.
