Fistral Beach Surfing Santa Charity Contest

Fistral Beach is going to see surfing Santa’s raising money for the Joe Way Appeal on the 13th December in the “Santa Foamie Surfing Contest” which starts at 9.30am.

There will be an open division for men & women alongside an U16’s division which see all the competitors wearing Santa outfits over their wetsuits.

Although it is a surfing contest it is also about giving surfers who have always wanted to try competing have the opportunity to do so in a fun way for a great cause along side seasoned competition surfers.

The Entry fee is £15 (which includes the use of a Foamie surfboard and a Santa outfit which you get to keep) with all profits going to the Joe Way Appeal.

The Joe Way Appeal was set up after local boy Joe was born with a rare genetic condition and died in May 2008 aged 4. He had been labeled a miracle boy after surviving meningitis, a potentially deadly skin reaction SJS and numerous superbugs but he finally died of complete organ failure after suffering from Steven Johnson Syndrome for a second time.

Since his death his parents have campaigned to raise money for over 20 causes in his name and have raised more than £128,000.00 in total.

Jenny Briant event organizer said “This is going to be a lot of fun and we cannot wait to see Newquays surfing Santa’s all over the beach and having fun all for a good cause, its what surfing’s all about”.

Prizes for the winners include a two night stay at Tolcarne Beach Village, £100 to spend at The Stable Restaurant, a selection of goodies from Bon Bon Fistral and On The Lip.

Water safety is being kindly provided by ERA Adventures with PJ Print and Perran Signs sponsoring the posters and banners.
