Australia; Solid East Coast Swell Lights Up Local Slabs

The end of last week saw a massive SE swell collide with New South Wales, lighting up spots up and down the states long and winding coastline.

Born of a giant low pressure system which hovered just off the coast of New Zealand, the swell was accompanied with ideal winds as it made landfall.

Crowds flocked to watch world famous slab Cape Solander doing its thing, whilst a series of lesser known slabs up and down the coastline also fired on all cylinders, with crews of local chargers in attendance.

Sydney based photographer Dan Bielich jumped in his car and raced out to check out some of these spots. Here’s some of his favourite images from the swell and what he told us about what went down:

“These shots were all taken at some secret spots on the east coast. They are really secluded, and luckily not too many people know about them. They catch the best part of the swell, and create some of the most perfect waves in all of Aus. The swell hit on Thursday of last week, eased Friday, and then blasted on the weekend. Some places hitting 10-12ft. Absolutely crazy waves!”
