GB Olympian Jenny Jones Gets Her Ticket to Ride

If you read our recent interview with Jenny Jones, you’ll know that not only is she Britain’s most successful snowboarder, after bagging the UK’s first Olympic Medal on the snow in 2014, but that she also has a healthy passion for surfing.

It isn’t only snowboards and surfboards she likes to ride though, Jenny is also an avid cyclist and has teamed up with Ticket to Ride on their Cycle Surfari from Bordeaux to Bilbao this September and she wants you to get involved.

Jenny will be cycling and surfing with the guests over the 300 mile route through the Basque Country, which includes a layover day in the European surf capital of Hossegor.

Averaging around 50 miles a day, the route will follow the coastline over a carefully thought out itinerary combining heritage surf spots and stunning landscapes, complemented with the famous cuisine of the region.

The tour will be lead by two experienced Ticket to Ride Trip Leaders and supported with a dedicated Chef, surf instructors and hospitality crew who will serve healthy hearty meals, and set up a unique camp at each location allowing the guests to focus on the daily cycle, waves, and local food, safe in the knowledge that they are being well looked after.

Jenny recently completed the Tour of Wessex Sportive, which took riders 322 miles in three days, the Smuggler Bike Ride Sportive 50 miler in Barnstaple and she is training for this September’s Nelson’s Tour De Test Sportive, which is a tough 100 mile route through Hampshire. So basically you’re in safe hands.

We had a quick catch up with Jenny to ask her how she feels about joining the trip and she said:

“I’m super stoked to get on board with this trip. It’s a great concept that suits me down to the ground as it incorporates two of my favourite summer activities… cycling and surfing! Double whammy. Love the idea of combining them and creating one epic adventure across France and into Spain. It’s going to be a truly memorable experience.”
