Independent School Surf Champs gets top UK pros involved

The inaugural Independent Schools Surf Championships is set to kick off on Wednesday, and boasts a stellar line up of top UK surfers involved in the action packed itinerary.

Run over three days the event promises more of a beach festival atmosphere than a pure out and out surf competition. All competitors will receive two surf coaching sessions on a 5:1 basis spearheaded by former British Surf Champion Sam Lamiroy, and supported by top UK Rider Harry Timson, as well as a selection of other coaches.

Every competitor will receive a full iAM band assessment before battling it out over two heats for an open leaderboard. The competitors will also have their scores “Levelled” depending on what iAM band they are for a seperate trophy. In addition to the surfing competition on the beach there will also be SUP sessions, a Surf Lifesaving Challenge, and a foamie competition. Prizes from Nixon are up for grabs.

To cap off the educational nature of the event there will be evening workshops in Seiners Hotel, with Wavelength Editor Steve Bough presenting on the Wednesday night, and Sam Lamiroy presenting on “Life as a pro surfer” on Thursday night.
