A School Surf Championships with a Difference

Ticket to Ride is excited to announce the launch of the Independent Schools Surf Championships, a unique event aimed at developing surfing and open water education for pupils of all ages across the country.

Catering to all surf abilities the event prides itself on its ocean sports festival focus, combining dedicated surf coaching from a selection of the UK’s top pro’s, iAM band assessments, surf lifesaving challenges, SUP sessions, a fancy dress foamie competition and a series of evening workshops, demos and prizes from some of the UK’s leading surf brands.

Excited by the new event Ticket to Ride Director and Event Coordinator Linley Lewis commented ‘With the success of the School Ski Championships, which has been running for 10 years, and with our global experience in the surf industry we decided it was time to create something truly unique, educational and memorable for schools in the surf world. It’s also worth mentioning that the event is independent, it is not exclusively open for Independent Schools.’

Multiple British Surf Champ, and professional surfer Sam Lamiroy is set to be the Contest Director alongside an experienced team of coaches and safety professionals. When asked about the new event Sam commented ‘To be honest – I’m just a bit jealous. I wish an event like this existed when I was at school! Just to be part of it now is pretty exciting. The combination of competitive surfing, top coaching as well as an introduction to other elements of the ocean and beach lifestyle sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun… I can’t wait.’

Suitable for surfers of all abilities, from budding professionals to eager first timers, the program has been developed to create a fun and competitive environment that will push, engage and develop each surfer at their own individual level.

The event will run over three days on Perranporth beach from 28th – 31st October 2015, boasting an action packed daily itinerary.
