Inspired Surfers is a 10 part series – in partnership with Jimmy’s Iced Coffee. We uncover the stories of characters who have taken their passion for surf into their day to day lives and done big and amazing things.

In this episode we are in conversation with 4x (& current) World Champion– Carissa Moore.

It is hard to ignore what Carissa has achieved in the water, so we won’t; she’s won world titles in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2019, taking out 22 World Tour events along the way. And at the ripe old age of 27, there’s absolutely no doubt that her trophy cabinet has space for plenty more. Is she on track for G.O.A.T status? Only time will tell…

However, in this podcast, we wanted to dig a little deeper into the person behind all the wins, get to know the real ‘Riss’ and uncover more details about the amazing work she has done to inspire others.

Riss is widely known for her overwhelming positivity and it’s clear when you get to know her a little better that it’s not just a front. Carissa was brought up in Hawaii and imbued with strong personal and family values from a young age.

Surfing too has played a leading role in her life since she was just 5 years old, thanks to her dad, who got her into the sport as soon as he could and remains by her side as her coach today. Their father x daughter relationship sounds like the sort all dads aspire to.

Together they focus not only on winning world titles but also inspiring others to benefit from surfing in the same ways they have. As a result, they set up the charity Moore Aloha with a simple mission; to encourage young females to be strong, confident and compassionate individuals through the sport of surfing.
