Inspired Surfer – Rachel Murphy – Founder of Women + Waves

Inspired Surfers is a 10 part series – in partnership with Jimmy’s Iced Coffee. We uncover the stories of characters who have taken their passion for surf into their day to day lives and done big and amazing things.

In this episode we are in conversation – Rachel Murphy – Founder of Women and Waves.

When we set out to deliver this series we wanted to make sure that with each story we covered new topics to make sure that along the way everyone can relate to different elements that make surfing a big part of peoples lives.

Last week, in episode 7, we caught up with 4 x World Champion Carissa Moore who gave us a clear insight into day to day life for a world champ. For many finding similarities to someone of that calibre is hard, however when you listen to elite athletes talk openly you realise they have their own stress and strains and like anyone, they have to find ways to deal with them. Carissa opened up about dealing with tricky situations with breathing and strong morals. She then went on to talk about the challenges she will face when trying to start a family while continuing to uphold global travel expectations and remain the world’s best.

Rachel Murphy – Founder of Women + Waves

Rachel on the other hand has a very different story, but still one that many would aspire to follow. She has taken a different path to the likes of Carissa, and in fact most people, and genuinely followed her passion and built a business that allows her to surf more and inspire others.

What started out as a weekly meeting of friends has evolved into a movement that brings women together through surf all over the world. Helping inspire more people to get in the water and benefit from all of the physical, mental and social benefits surfing brings.

Summary

In this conversation Jim and Rachel discuss:

We hope that this story inspires you to Keep Your Chin Up, do good and take on the challenges in front of you.
