Jack Robinson In ‘Hollow Ground’

Jack Robinson has been on the international radar for a while as a barrel riding prodigy come absolute charger. He’s the product of a seemingly fearless personality and a coastline rich in waves of consequence.

Jack first caught the interest of industry insiders at the age of eight, when he began competing against and beating surfers twice his age. According to his Billabong team manager he’s been famous since he was 12- the same age at which he started surfing the box. By 14 he was surfing Gnaraloo, which is touted by those in the know as one of the heaviest waves in the world. And by 17 he was surfing against the worlds best at Pipe. Unlike some chargers, his talent also transfers well to a competitive arena and last year he beat a stacked field (including JOB) to win the Pipe trials last year in solid conditions.

Robinson has been steeped in praise by the international elite, with Taj Burrow calling him ‘a young Andy Irons.’ Slater saying he’s ‘unbelievable in big left barrels or any barrelling wave’ and John John John reckoning he’s ‘one of the gnarliest, for sure.’

Right now the young Aussie says his priorities lie with qualifying for the CT, and we’d love to see him up there battling it out with JJF, Slater and Medina at Fiji and Chopes.
