The internet masses have been well and truly kicking off since that clip emerged of Darren Handley going over the handlebars of his ski, after getting stuck in a perfect Kirra peeler last weekend.

Insta  commenters have been tagging in the local police dept in their droves, undoubtedly blindsiding the poor boys in blue with a very 2018 alternative to dialling 000 (the Aussie version of 999).

Many are demanding the book be thrown at all sorts of big names for contravening the states rules and regs about jet skis in surf lineups and as much as we’d love to morally pontificate on that one, there are more pressing questions to be answered from the weekend’s mega-swell.

Is a hydro foil step off, with jet ski accompaniment (see  1.14) the most dangerous way to catch a wave in a busy line up? Considering a manned hydro foil supposedly has the ability to chop someone in half, what could 2017’s hottest wave riding craft be capable off when left to its own devices?
