Jet-Ski Step Off Goes Wrong At Kirra

The Gold Coast has been enjoying a run of excellent swell recently, bringing out the hoards to try their luck at snagging one of Kirra’s world class funnels.

Some have looked to increase their chances by bringing a pal on a jetski, for them to jump off the back of when the moment feels right. Unfortunately sometimes the presence of these mechanised accompaniments sees everything go terribly wrong. There are numerous examples of people almost getting landed on, or run over by jet-skis, and here’s another incident to add to the list.

“Probably one of the craziest things I have ever seen. Reno today pulling into a barrel at Currumbin alley when his mate ‘@board74’ went over him”

“Everyone was just amazed and in shock after they fell, he got sucked backwards into the wave while his mate was in the barrel,” said 16 year old photographer Luke Workman who took the snaps.

“They were on one of the smaller waves that came through as well.”

Luckily the pair came out and unscathed and made their way back out into the line up along side numerous paddles battling against the strong Northerly currents.
