Laura Enever Surfs Twelve Foot Shipstern Bluff

Yesterday, during the first shoot for an upcoming documentary about the Aussie surfer, Laura Enever whipped into a twelve foot bomb at Shipstern Bluff in Tasmania.

The film, which will reportedly chart Enever’s journey from tour competitor to heavy wave free surfer, is being directed and shot by photographer Steve Walls and is still in early stages of its production.

“We’ve been chipping away for a couple of months,” Wells told Beachgrit. “That was the first day we shot. Obviously, we came down here not expecting fifteen-foot sets. But Laura ended up getting on the rope and was thrown into the deep end really fast. As you can imagine, it was quite a sight.”

“Shippies is always a great time to catch up with best mates charging interesting waves,” says photog Stu Gibson who snapped the above image of Enever. “although yesterday we had an addition to the group, Laura Enever Steep and deep before the step on this nugget, sent the channel wild!!”

Praise has rained in from all corners of the surfing world via Enever’s instagram, with everyone from Taj Burrow to Sabre Norris expressing their awe for what is undoubtedly a pioneering day for women’s surfing. We look forward to seeing the footage when the full fill drops!
