2016 London Surf Film Festival x Reef Submissions Open

Luke Gartside

13th June 2016

Submissions are now open for the 2016 London Surf / Film Festival presented by Reef!

Hosted across the capital 22nd September – 1st October 2016 the 6th Edition of the London Surf / Film Festival is a celebration of the cream of international surf culture, bringing an exciting mix of World, European and UK premieres to one of the planet’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities.

Filmmakers from across the globe are now invited to submit their films for consideration for this year’s festival programme. Surf culture is wide open to creative interpretation and we welcome films that explore all aspects and angles of surfing. Deadline for submissions is 7th August.

Selected features will be premiered across the capital in a showcase of the very best in British and international surfing. “Over the last 6 years we’re delighted to have worked with contemporary culture’s most exciting and relevant surf filmmakers to bring to the UK the very best in independent filmmaking – celebrating both emerging talents and established names,” says London Surf / Film Festival Director Demi Taylor. “As always our focus is on those projects that shine a new light on our culture – through exceptional narrative, surfing or cinematography and 2016 is shaping up to be another exciting year of extraordinary film making.”

Features will be considered by the panel – comprised of experts from the worlds of surfing, filmmaking and media – for prestigious awards including: Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Cinematography and will be eligible for the Viewer’s Choice, as voted for by the knowledgeable London Surf / Film Festival audience.

Alongside the screenings hosted at two iconic venues – The Genesis in East London and The Regent Street Cinema, W1 the London Surf / Film Festival will be curating the popular Q+A sessions, with directors, producers and waveriders of note allowing the audience to get closer to the action and meet the legends of screen and surf as well a packed programme of exciting happenings around the festival.
