Manoeuvre Of The Week: John John Florence’s Insane Backflip

John John wasted no time in stomping an absolute barn-stormer of a backflip upon his arrival in WA

Luke Gartside

25th March 2017

Western Australia is home to a crazy quantity of perfectly groomed, perfectly rampy waves, and as the WSL descends on the region, we look forward to seeing the extensive and inevitable cascade of clips of the worlds best showing off their aerial prowess.

John John has wasted no time in getting amongst it, and yesterday he dropped  this clip of him stomping one of the biggest, cleanest and most casual backflips we’ve seen for a while:

Whilst the forecast for the opening days of the waiting period for The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro looks solid, suggesting we could be set for a day of action at the Box, it looks to be going a little smaller later in the weak, meaning air games could well come into play. Accordingly when picking your fantasy team we’d suggest stuffing in some all rounders, who can slip in under the curtain out at the Box, but also take to the air when the occasion calls. (Think John John, Jordy, Julian.)

Speaking of unbridled aerial progression, we’ve got a selection of some of the best, most ground-breaking airs that have been stomped over the last decade or so, right here.
