WATCH: Mikey February Dancing On A Perfect African Point Break

It remains an enduring fact that to truly flourish, some surfers must break free of the confines of the competitive grind.

Folk like Reynolds, Burch and Disney have proven in the years since they quit comps, that there’s a certain form of surfing creativity that can only be unleashed when the singlet is cast off.

And now, Mikey February has shown that he too falls firmly into that category.

After dropping off tour at the end of last year and signing head to toe with Vans – a brand famous for allowing their riders to pursue whatever creative avenues they please- we’ve been waiting for MFeb to drop his first full-free-surfer short.

And here it is. ‘Nü RYTHMO’ – a glorious little number featuring the man from SA exploring a perfect sand bottomed point in a bustling West African fishing village, interspersed with a selection of locally recorded afrobeat performances.

For us, the incredible cinematography, original score and February’s sublimely flowing surfing combine to make this one of the finest edits of 2019 so far…
