WATCH: A Brutal Nazarè Wipeout Followed By A Disastrous Rescue Attempt

Portuguese charger Alex Bothello falls fowl to Nazarè's total disregard for puny humans and their pitiful motorised water craft. This is absolutely savage:

Luke Gartside

9th March 2018

Although the Nazarè big wave season is approaching its conclusion for this half of the year, footage of the carnage that regularly unfolds at the wave just keeps on coming.

While the sheer frequency of bone-shattering wipeout footage has seen the surfing world becoming increasingly numb to the horror, there are a few which still induce the sort of teeth clenching, side of mouth air sucking reaction we all hope to illicit when hitting play on a fresh morsel of terror. And this latest of Alex Botelho falls firmly in that category.

A mere slide down the face followed by explosion by falling lip are no longer sufficient to get many seasoned viewers gasping, but when the wipeout is proceeded by a disastrous rescue attempt, the incident enters a whole new realm of severity. Luckily, as with most of the terrible wipeouts that go down every session, neither of the boys were seriously harmed and will be straight back out there when the six story wedges return to their native shoreline.
