Rumoured: New WSL Air Tour To Debut In France

It’s been reported that the WSL have been holding secret meetings at Snapper, dotting the Is and crossing the Ts on new plans for a WSL air tour.

According to the grape vine, the very first event is likely to be held next to the Quik Pro France contest site this coming October.  The tentative invite list includes an exciting range of surfers from free surf and competitive backgrounds, plucking the finest from the WSL and sticking them alongside the stars of aerial surfing’s most impressive video parts.

Here’s the list as rumoured by Stab: Dane Reynolds, Noa Deane, Craig Anderson, Chippa Wilson, Ozzie Wright, Albee Layer, Filipe Toledo, Italo Ferreira, Ratboy, Christian Fletcher with Gabriel Medina and John John Florence.

There are undoubtedly some omissions in the form of Matt Meola, Clay Marzo and Mikey Wright (see above) but aside from them, we reckon the list takes in just about all the best aerialists in the world, and if the format works and the waves play ball, it promises to be an extremely entertaining event.

The comp will be directed by the newly retired Josh Kerr, who, as an aerial pioneer himself, seems perfectly placed to make sure everything runs smoothly, and will apparently feature no WSL singlets, making it more like a skate comp. And so far, that’s all we know. Check back soon when the official word from the WSL drops.
