While the south west has been facing one of the longest sustained periods of terrible waves in living memory, some other parts of the UK have been enjoying a flurry of good quality winter swell over the last week or so.

Even Dorset was graced with a few days of fun waves, with the Piers providing shelter from the winds that have blighted the rest of the coastline, before it glassed off as the swell backed off. From this selection of images, it even looks like a few sessions went un-mobbed by the usual baying masses, with unconfirmed reports of lineups being shared merely amongst a hand full of friends. It turns out every dog really does have it’s day and the outlook suggests a few more fun sessions could be on the cards for Bournemouth and the surrounding coastline later this week.
