Robbie Maddison Sent Packing After Motorbike-Surf Attempt In Mexico

You’ve all seen the video of Robbie Maddison riding his dirt bike through the otherwise pristine Teahupo’o lagoon and out into the lineup, where he zips about for a bit, dodging waves. The clip has been viewed a whopping 25 million times on Youtube and caused mass internet based hysteria around the world when it first came out.

It has been recently been reported that Robbie, along with a film and logistics crew of mammoth proportions, has been trying to enact his little moto-surf-stunt once again. This time at the famed Todo Santos on Mexico’s Pacific coast. However, it seems this time the locals were not having it and refused to clear the lineup to make way for Robbie and his revvy antics.

Maddison and his entourage are yet to comment on the incident and so currently the only version of the story we have comes from a Mexican man named Raul, who wrote a facebook status detailing what went down, which was subsequently posted on Beachgrit.

Basically it’s all still very much in the ‘allegedly’ stage, but here is how Raul says things played out in his own words.

“Super cool day not only because the waves were amazing and surfed with a legend but because some kooks came over wanted to pull a motocross on the wave! They came with helicopters jetskis a huge boat with a ramp to put the bike in the water camera the works!! But no real permits (specially landing a Heli on the island which is a Federal Reserve) and no permission from the locals. Super disrespectful! So my local man Vincent Ya SHUT THEM DOWN!! Gary Linden was out there making a stance for a break has giving him so much! Not paddling in and blocking the kook moto guy. Even a mega kook came over and threatened Gary!! Unbelievable!! They talking about money and all this bs! Like saying they spending all this money to do this so on their mind THAT GIVES THEM THE RIGHT! Crazy how peeps think money can get u everything, specially sacred places like this. World is twisted. In the end when it went to shit the wind got onshore and the swell was dropping we left Robbie Maddison u a KOOK! If u see shit u don’t afree with that is disrespecting your spot, place, culture, family friends whatever MAKE A STAND and don’t let it fly” [sic]

If the story turns out to be exactly as it’s told here, we’re anticipating a loud cheer from the internet masses for this perfect modern day surf fable – where locals stand up to overt exploitation of their cherished break by invading outsiders, with a scant disregard for anyone but themselves and their own corporate interests.

HURAH.
