Skeleton Bay with Ian Battrick

Anyone who is prepared to ditch everything at the last minute and fly half way around the world for one day of surf, which isn’t gauranteed, is a little mad. But that is exactly what Ian Battrick did to score Skeleton Bay with French mate Hugues Oyarzabal. The fickle desert left-hander, which is almost cartoon like in its mechanical perfection, is not that easy to score, requiring a solid swell from the right direction and a combination of light offshore and the correct tide. Then there is the shark factor to get over as well, sure there is a lot of natuaral food in the area, but this coast of Africa is known to have one of the greatest concentration of Great Whites on the planet, so it takes total commitment to getting barrelled to get this place.
