Smooth Movers Returns To Cornwall This Weekend

Smooth Movers is back!

The U.K.’s finest exhibit of traditional surfing, combined with a showcase of music, art and really cold beer is about to unfold again before your eyes. Here’s everything you need to know:

The event will kick off on Friday 14th at 1400 with the ‘Move‘ exhibition, run from the ‘Rockpool Bar and Grill’, the far wests’ premiere beach side venue.

Friday night will see an evening of live music, general hysteria and yes, beer. Featuring, amongst others, Gwithians favourite son Tyler Crewes, Porthlevens best punk four piece Half Kut, and legend of the far west Frankie Davies.

Saturday will see the surfing, taking place from the idyllic National Trust setting at Godrevy beach. There’ll be the main event of Single Fin Longboarding, alongside the `Battered Fish’ twin fin division and the ‘Send it for Summer’ charity expression session.

One again our chums at Algorhythm will be taking us to the small hours on Saturday night.  Hosting the official Smooth Movers afterparty on Saturday 15th September from 2200-0300. This time the boys are back, with their biggest event to date. 10 DJs, two rooms, and two marquees.

You’ll need a ticket for the Algorhythm bit; https://www.smoothmovers.org

This will be the pinnacle of traditional surfing in the UK and, combined with a showcase of music, art and really cold beer across the three days, probably quite a good weekend.

Should we talk Specifics?

We’ll open the doors to the event and our exhibition at 1400 on Friday 14th, featuring everything from the photography of Jack Whitefield to the more famous street fusion styled painting of Joe Greenaway. From 1600 we’ll experience the dulcet tones of Nick Radford to enhance the afternoon. The vibe will stay chilled out and quite sexy until around 1800, where we’ll welcome a few guest speakers to the stage to share a few words about the weekend and present some local shorts alongside a full feature film.

We have artisans of the traditional longboarding community coming in from Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A and across europe, so not only a chance to watch some great videos, a chance to meet and greet friends from near and far.

This will flow, as will the beer, into an evening of FREE live music from 1900, more beer and general hysteria.

Featuring, OLA LOCO, ‘Ola Loco take you on a journey through the genre of Surf Guitar; Heading South to pick up some Mexican vibes, screaming North in a high octane hot rod and sipping Margueritas in the tiki lounge. So sit back, relax and let the music wash over you like the ocean waves

Mixing delta blues traditions with nu-blues songwriting, this one man trio has been hailed as “The rising star of British blues”.
