Over the weekend, the WSL’s Teahupo’o comp went off, under AAA conditions and a hulking, absolutely terrifying swell that decimated competitors all over the shop. Copping the worst of it; Eli Hanneman, the Hawaiian sending it on a classically west Teahupo’o juggernaut, missing the take-off and pencil diving into the flats below as the whole Pacific Ocean rained down on him. So hard, his board came up with bits of reef stuck to it. Eli’s ok but this one’s going to stick in his memory for a long, long time. Check it out.
