From Guadeloupe To The Depths Of Indo With Tito Lavole

Tito Lavole hails from the small Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, growing up cutting his teeth on perfectly wind whipped ramps.

However even when your homeland is a tropical paradise, you still hunger for the abundant delights offered by an Indo strike mission and recently Tito reconvened with childhood friend Yentl Touboul on one such trip. Here’s what the man behind the lens told us of the clip you see before you:

“Tito and I both grew up surfing together in Guadeloupe, Caribbean. At the time Tito was surfing a fluro pink & yellow 5’4’’ and I was holding a MiniDV camera. Things have changed a little bit since then: Tito is surfing a slightly bigger board and I’m holding a slightly better camera… but apart from that, things were pretty much the same, and starting to film there made complete sense for us. Nothing could sound better than surfing the on-shore left in front of his house, which we did for 2 weeks. The second part of the movie was shot a few months later…we knew this video wouldn’t feel complete without the surreal chaos of the plastic land we adore so much: Indonesia.
A booked flight and we were back together, driving our Japanese van and embarking multiple rusted ferries to get as far from Bali as we could… And that was that.”
