Top 10 Videos of 2022 Countdown – #2 Pure Bliss In The Ments.

A peak behind the curtain of your most treasured surfing slices from the year just gone.

On our Instagram account, we’ve been doing a countdown of the 25 most-watched clips of 2022. For the top 10, which will get us to the dying embers of the year, we thought we’d dig a little deeper into the videos themselves.

It’s a peak behind the curtain on just why these slivers of surfing from 2022 proved so popular with the Wavelength faithful. You’re a strange bunch, sure, but you know your surfing, and you know what you like. And that’s what we love about ya.

No. 2: Pitstop Perfection As Viewed From Your Verandah

The allure of this clip lies in its pure accessibility. This isn’t chundering Greenbush, or huge, perfect Kanduis. There are no ten-second tubes and lime-infused coral scrapes. It is simply a wave known as Pitstops being fun, blue, head high, and uncrowded. Or pure bliss.

The balcony of the Mentawai Surf Resort losmen frames the wave and adds context. It is so easy to picture yourself on the verandah, watching the set, and after draining your banana smoothie deciding to jump in for a surf. There is no danger, or adrenalin, just pure surfing joy. We all want to be there. We all aren’t. That’s why we keep watching it over and over.
