Here we go, we’re a few weeks out from the first ever North Sea Surf Film Festival – and some of the screenings have already sold out for the event, which takes place from March 26th to March 28th at locations across Tynemouth and North Shields.
For its first year, there’s an absolutely insane roster on offer here – including Torren Martyn’s new flick ‘Southern Edge’, showing on the Saturday night. Here’s the run down of what’s happening.
Thursday
Cold Gold – Encouraging local surfers, surf crews, filmers and grassroots communities to enter a sub three minute edit to be screened on the night at the historic TVLB watchouse. SOLD OUT.
Friday
A selection of films from both the UK and beyond, tackling some issues, showcasing amazing storytelling. None of the films are available online so watch on the big screen at the 100-year-old Tynemouth Village Hall. SOLD OUT.
Saturday Morning – Grom Takeover
Back at the village hall. One for the groms, the next generation. Led by surf coaches and groms from the area we have short films, talks, Q&As, equipment, SAS are on board and there will be coffee for the parents. Only a fiver. 10:30-11:30, tickets available here.
Saturday Afternoon
Film Festival moves down to the Saltmarket on the historic North Shields fish quay in a huge old warehouse. Kicking things off with a matinee screening of The Big Sea with filmmaker Q&A at 3pm. Tickets here.
Saturday Night – Gala Night
Films from the UK, around the world looking at heavy hitting issues, incredible surfing, storytelling – and none of these are available online. Full bar, surf photos and food being served. Tickets are only £12.50 and available here. Torren’s new flick is lined up.
