WATCH: A Short Extract From Torren Martyn’s ‘Thank You Mother’

Luke Gartside

30th April 2020

Torren Martyn just dropped a short extract from his award-winning 2019 film ‘Thank You Mother’

While much of the surfing action is centered around South Africa, TYM also includes sessions in Australian and Indo, including an epic little run at Desert Point, which features in the following clip:

For those who haven’t seen the full-length film – which just picked up a nomination for surf film of the year – we’d highly recommend carving out some time during a locked-down evening and sticking it on.

Its compelling narrative combines with the beautiful cinematography and artful surfing to create what is in our opinion, one of the best surf films of recent years. You can get it on Vimeo for less than the price of two pints.

If you’d like to know more about Torren and the development of his unique approach to wave reading, you can read the interview we did with him last year here.
