The Nazare tow challenge format presented a rare opportunity for surfing to have a go at being a real team sport. 

Unlike previous more tokenistic attempts, like the founder’s cup or the ISA’s, at Nazare event, the team’s are out there facing down the elements and attempting to surf the world’s biggest waves together. Polished whip in and rescue strategies, razor-sharp comms and a seamless ability to work together can all make the difference between getting a bomb and not and avoiding serious injury.
