WATCH: Chinese Wave Pool Malfunctions Producing Huge Wave

Yesterday a wave pool in China produced a freak clean up set which injured 40 bathers.

The incident reportedly occurred after a power cut caused damage to the electronics in the aptly named ‘Tsunami pool control room’.

“[this] led to the waves in the tsunami pool becoming too big and injuring people,” explained Longjing city government in a statement.

However, according to a badly translated and dubious local news article, rumours are currently circulating on social media that ‘the facility operator was drunk when operating the wave generator at full power.’

While 5 people were reportedly taken to hospital, a further 35 sustained minor injuries.

It is not yet known if any kamikaze local surfers have travelled to the facility to recreate and ride the giant wave.
