For a comp that gets more than its fair share of mud flung at it, the Rio Pro has been bloody entertaining this year.
There’ve been tubes, crazy airs, upsets and underdogs. Really, it’s been pretty much everything you want from a comp (and the time difference is perfect for British surf fans). A little up the coast however, a crew of Brazilians have been getting stuck in to some altogether less playful conditions as the swell that lit up Saquarema also threw some waves at a notorious slab named Shock.
