Three years ago 24 year-old Brazilian pro surfer Ricardo Dos Santos was shot dead in an altercation outside his home.
At the time details were thin on the ground and speculation rife, however as time passed it became clear Dos Santons had been murdered in cold blood over a minor argument with an off-duty police officer with a history of violence. Moving tributes poured in from all corners of the surfing world, mourning the loss of the young charger, who’s wild approach to riding waves of consequences was just beginning to garner serious international attention.
Two years ago Stab travelled to Brazil to find out more about Ricardo, and investigate how such a senseless murder could occur under such seemingly benign circumstances. The resultant film, which contains voices from surfing legends and Ricardos friends and loved ones, stands as a tribute to a member of the surfing tribe taken far too soon.
