WATCH: Russell Bierke’s First Session Back After His Near Death Wipeout

Back in April we brought you the news that prodigious Aussie charger Russell Bierke has been hospitalised after being knocked unconscious at a remote slab in Victoria.

Luckily Slater, and a host of experience locals were there to rush Russ back to shore on a ski, where he was resuscitated and rushed to hospital.

Luckily for fans of big wave surfing, the experience hasn’t turned Russell off the heavier stuff, and he recently returned to the ocean and by the looks of this brand new edit, which chronicles his first session back in the water, he doesn’t look to be slowing down.

For most of us, when we’ve been out of the water for a while nursing an injury, we coax ourselves gently back in, perhaps starting out with dribblers session on a foamy. Russell Bierke is not most most of us though, and he’s decided to get straight back on the horse and take that horse to the gnarliest steeple chase course he can find, with really high jumps and really really ditches.
