WATCH: Tom Lowe’s Crazy Mullaghmore Highlight Reel

In January Cornish charger Tom Lowe rode the wave of his life.

It marked the high point of his pioneering efforts at Mullaghmore, Ireland’s most infamous big wave slab.

“I phoned up my sister and Mickey smith as soon as I got out,” he told us back in January. “Just to connect with the source, he knows how much time and energy I’ve put in out there. Fuck I’ve been to the depths, I’ve drowned out there to try and get that thing. It’s definitely the wave of my life and not just out there.”

By the time he got home, the footage was already online, forcing him to contemplate the ride’s significance in real-time with the rest of the world. Since then he’s taken a bit of time to reflect and work on a clip with Mickey that delves a little deeper the journey he’s been on out there.

Although it feels like a culmination of sorts, Lowey told us straight afterwards this is by no means the final chapter in his Mully saga. While he didn’t want to take away from the achievement that wave represented, he told us it really served to get him even more fired up to get back out there next winter and catch a bigger one.
