Wavelength Surf Magazine – since 1981

Wavelength Media takes over the mighty ‘Length

So if you’re on Facebook you know this already, but we have been taken over. It wasn’t hostile, we sadly haven’t made piles of cash over rocketing speculative share sales, but we do have a nice new office overlooking Great Western and a very sick looking future.

So what’s the deal? First off we’re owned by a company of surfers again (Wavelength Media), that’s the first time this has happened in over ten years. Secondly we have a digital team, holy shit I know, which means we’ll be getting  a new website, a proper digital edition of the mag and a film department. Yeah I know crazy, we haven’t exactly been at the cutting edge digitally.

Then there is the mag, do not worry print is not dead, the defibrillators are still gathering dust and the whole mag is about to go through a serious upgrade. Print mags are something a little bit special now and this will be reflected in the content. No more throwaway content which you’ve already liked on the internet, instead exclusive, unseen beautiful long form pieces of content with epic surf shots. That doesn’t mean we’re going old, the content will reflect our readership from grom to old ripper and everything in between.

Our editorial team is being mixed up, a new designer, Tim Nunn returning as editor and staff photog and some new columnists like Alex Dick Reed (ex Surfer’s Path ED) and Tony Butt (Surfer’s Path columnist) adding to our already eclectic mix of regular writers.

We also want to involve you guys more, the readers are the magazine, and we need your help to make this happen. So we have launched a crowdfunder, this is not to save the mag, this is to help us implement all the upgrades and deliver the best possible product. In return we have lined up a load of sick rewards, from being on the cover of the August issue to joining an exclusive editorial panel to decide on content and the regular front cover. Check that out here –http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/Wavelength-The-Surfers-Magazine – all support is vital.

If you’re a subscriber already, we’ve got some surprises for you as well, you gusy have been loyal to us throguh thick and thin and are about to be rewarded.

It’s exciting times at The ‘Length and we’re about to produce the best surf mag we ever have.
