Wavelength Surf Magazine – since 1981

The Wavelength Portugal Surfari

Have you ever got yourself psyched on Dane clips pre-surf, driven to your local, increasing the amp listening to Chief Keith, suited up, paddled out with one thing on your mind – blow up/ smash the lip/boost, only to bomb it down your first wave with the intention of doing a massive air only to hit the section and everything launches but your ass? Or wound up a big bottom turn for nice backhand spank and you end up doing a little wiggle-pivot thing with praying mantis arms?

Maybe you’ve got a few turns dialled and you’re trying to get the fins out but every time you go for it you fall uncontrollably into a layback. Not a cool Clay Marzo one, but more a lame lay down in the whitewater.

If you experience any of the above on the reg you need join Wavelength’s very own super surf coach Sam Lamiroy and his protege Harry Timson for a week’s Surfari in Portugal staying at the legendary Surf Experience this April 23rd – 30th 2016.

The week will include intensive surf coaching from Sam, Harry and the Surf Experience crew with Wavelength’s Photo Editor shooting all the action for the Summer issue of the magazine. All of this fun fuelled by delicious and healthy food with a Portuguese twist and of course some unforgettable nights out in Lagos thrown into the mix.

Surfers must be able to take off both ways on a wave and be starting basic turns in order to join the trip. You should also be eager to receive feedback via video coaching, as well as other tips and techniques to take your surfing to the next level. If you are up for it, you can expect your surfing game to seriously step up.

The week will be split into two groups of 6 – 8 surfers, depending on ability, and we will set off in 4X4’s to the most suitable break or breaks for the day. If you haven’t checked out a map of the Algarve area yet, let’s just say it’s a seriously wave-rich region…
