Wavelength Magazine, the UK’s longest-running surf publication, is set to triumphantly return to its roots in Newquay after a long hiatus. The acquisition of Wavelength Magazine by 10 Over Surf Ltd, the team behind Longboarder Magazine and 10 Over Surf Shop marks a significant milestone for the iconic surf publication.
Christian Thomson, Co-Founder of 10 Over Surf Ltd, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Since its inception in 1981, Wavelength Magazine has been a pivotal publication for both British and European surfing. Our mission is to honour the magazine’s original vision and produce a visually stunning publication that showcases the extraordinary and diverse surf scene in the United Kingdom. We are committed to investing in multiple media channels to support the biannual print issues.”
Wavelength Surf Magazine boasts a rich history, driven by the unwavering passion of its founder, John Conway. Originally conceived to contribute to British surf culture, Conway, an accomplished photographer, envisioned a platform to elevate the sport nationally. In the early ’80s, Conway organised a prominent UK surfing contest and launched Wavelength Magazine, co-founded with Geoff Tydeman. The magazine, inspired by Australia’s Tracks, quickly gained traction with advertisers.
