Remember When The World’s Best Rode Twinnies At J-Bay?

Remember the Corona Highline speciality heat at J-Bay last year? Let us refresh your memory.

The concept was simple, send four world tour surfers (Jordy Smith, Matt Wilkinson, Conner Coffin and Sebastian Zietz) with a bit of twin-fin experience out on a couple of retro craft, and watch them draw the kind of lines that everyone enjoys. The showcase was so successful it spawned all sorts of calls for a separate twin fin tour and the official highlight reel for the heat got almost as many hits as the video of the maverick rescue boat driver snagging a J-bay bomb.

The boys ain’t quite Torren Martyn, and certainly bobble a little more than you might expect from the best surfers in the world but it was certainly an entertaining experiment and we hope to see it return this year.
