Filipe Toledo Charges Waimea!

Despite his unbelievable wave riding prowess, Toledo still gets a lot of stick.

In small waves, few contend he’s right up there with the best in the world, but his critics are quick to point out he’s yet to prove himself in bigger, heavier waves.

But wait! What’s this? A brief little cameo by a certain Waimea bay in his brand new edit may just be about to have said critics eating their words. That’s right! Among his usual incredible display of searing carves and aerial acrobatics, Toledo also snags a big chunky one at the North Shore’s premiere big wave spot. As a side note, with Fiji off the tour roster and two new waves that clearly suit his ability a little better than big barrelling lefts (Keramas and The KS Wave Pool), it’s hard to argue the 2018 line up benefits any world title contender more than it does Toledo. Accordingly, if he can hold himself back from storming any judging towers, and prevent any unnecessary interferences, 2018 could well be his year.
