There's something mesmerising about watching 50 foot chunks of Atlantic ocean folding over onto the sand don't you think?

Since Nazaré first burst into the public consciousness back in 2011 lensmen and spectators have been totally transfixed by her gaze.

There’s something about the setting; the old lighthouse, the giant wedges and the way they crash on the sandy beach below that draws people in and compels them to record. When there’s a tiny human perilously bouncing their way down the face, the entertainment value is obvious, by as it turns out a compilation of unridden waves can be just as awe inspiring.

Here’s a beautiful empties reel from Nuno Dias, a filmmaker who points his camera at the Portuguese beast, whenever she wakes:
