One Crazy Session At Cape Solander

The site of the infamous Cape Fear event lit up for a crew of balls-out chargers at the end of July.

In late July the east coast of Aus was battered by a solid swell, generated by a storm system which hovered just off the coast, allowing it’s arrival to be accompanied by ideal conditions.

We’ve already brought you coverage of what various less well known slabs around Sydney were up to, and now a brand new clip has dropped by renowned big wave film maker Tim Bonython, featuring the mother-load session that went down at Cape Solander (also known as Ours), site of the Red Bull Cape Fear Event. The event’s waiting period has been open for several months, and finishes at the end of August, with no chart yet catching the eye of the Red Bull forecasters. According to filmmaker Bonython the wave has indeed been very quiet this season, with this being one of the only serious sessions at the infamous reef to occur so far in 2017.

The edit features surfers Justen ‘Jughead’ Allport, Jesse Polock, Peter Standlick, Mal Holmann & Mitch Parkinson.

As a side note we recommend hitting mute, unless you want to induce vivid flashbacks to your weird 2004 ‘screamo’ phase…
