Drive-In Cinema, Cornwall: When, Where & Tickets

Back by popular demand after a sell out season of cult classics, surf films and family entertainment screenings last summer, Wavelength is bringing drive-in cinema back to Cornwall in 2021.

From a stunning clifftop venue at Watergate Bay that Timeout magazine called ‘one of the world’s most beautiful outdoor cinema settings’, Drive In Cinema will run all summer long from 16th July to 5th September 2021.

New for 2021, a larger, state of the art LED screen brings enhanced picture quality and better visibility, adding family-friendly afternoon screenings to the hugely popular evening sundowner session.

When Are Wavelength’s Drive In Cinema Cornwall Screenings?

Drive-In Cinema runs Thursday to Sunday each and every week this summer, 16/07/21 – 05/09/21, now with two showtimes, afternoon and evening.

Daytime shows run 12.45 – 17.00, offering fantastic family entertainment for all.

Evening screenings will run 18.45-23.00, bringing incredible vibes as the on screen entertainment is complemented by the finest sunsets on the coast.

What Films Are Showing at Wavelength’s Drive In Cinema Cornwall?

The 2021 Drive In Cinema lineup features a total of 21 films, from cult classics, surf films and family movies, meaning there’s something for everyone on the big screen.

For families, there’s ocean-themed favourites Surfs Up, Pirates of the Caribbean, Moana and many more, while 80’s cult comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off joins classics like Grease, Dirty Dancing and Jaws.

For surf fans, fan favourites Blue Juice, Endless Summer II and Point Break, are joined by five action-packed new additions for 2021. Opening weekend hosts vintage coming of age classic Big Wednesday, followed by the iconic Blue Crush and the charmingly cheesy North Shore. Critically acclaimed big wave documentary Riding Giants and biographical epic Chasing Mavericks, round things out before the final weekend’s Wavelength Surf Film Fest, features a hand-picked selection of surfing shorts.

Other Entertainment At Drive In Cinema

It’s not just the films themselves of course. Arrival is recommended around 2 hours before the screening starts to enable you to reserve a good spot, make the most of the stunning clifftop location and take advantage of the food and drink offering on site.

Locally sourced street food including hot and confectionary are available in the food and drink village; craft ales and artisan spirits alongside a range of non-alcoholic options including coffee and soft drinks help make for the best sundowners of summer.

Plus, an improved on-site selection of food trucks and bars will be delivering direct to your car so you can skip the queues and ensure you’ve got a beer and a burrito handy to enjoy with the sunset.

For live music lovers, Cornish shanty sensations The Fisherman’s Friends return for 5 exclusive live performances, followed by the screening of their film.
