LISTEN: Greg Long On Brand New ‘Type 2’ Podcast From Looking Sideways Talking post-wipeout epiphanies, big wave education and environmental activism with Greg Long...

Luke Gartside

29th June 2019

Matt Barr from Looking Sideways has just launched a brand new podcast, in association with Patagonia, called Type 2.

Through conversations with action sports’ biggest movers and shakers, the podcast will explore the intersection between the outdoors, action sports and activism.

For his first episode, he sat down with Greg Long- a true titan of the big wave world, with wins at the Eddie, the Red Bull Titans of Mavericks and multiple XXL awards to his name.

The episode delves deep into how a near-death wipeout at Cortes Bank in 2012 changed Greg’s attitude to big wave surfing and life in general. Greg explains how now, while he continues to charge the biggest waves on earth, he is also dedicated to using his platform to share his wisdom with fellow surfers, mainly through his work with the Big Wave Risk Assessment Group. He also outlines his dedication to raising awareness about ways we can protect the ocean environment and help solve the environmental challenges ahead.

Type 2 will launch a new episode every four weeks, with season one promising in-depth conversation with a wide variety of athletes, activists, journalists, photographers and campaigners who are working with their communities or using their platforms to help raise awareness and drive environmental change.

Subscribe to Looking Sideways now wherever you get your podcasts to get Type 2 episodes in your feed as soon as they drop.
